Overall, this product offers great value for the price. Just keep in mind that these are strictly on/off switches, so the volume won’t adjust based on how you press them. A highlight for me was the ability to connect it to my iPad (with an adapter) and use it for learning on Melodics. It’s not without its flaws; if you attempt to map the instrument or switch to left-handed mode, it doesn’t work well and is essentially unusable. I’m not sure if that’s a Melodics or Donner issue. Regardless, just plug it in, avoid the mapping button, and if you’re right-handed, you’ll be fine!

Itâs an excellent starter set for both young and older users. The headphone jack is a fantastic addition, minimizing extra noise. It can be set up on any surface and is easy to pack away.

I purchased this as a MIDI drum controller, and I’m quite satisfied. It’s straightforward to import my own samples into Ableton to personalize my drum kit sounds. There are 9 sounds in total, including the 2 pedals. It connects via USB-C directly to my computer without requiring extra power. The included speakers are okay, but that doesn’t bother me. I haven’t explored the other features.

The speaker is positioned far enough from the drums to avoid any direct hits, and if it does get hit, the material seems robust enough not to chip or tear easily. The sound from the speakers could be better, but given the price, it’s acceptable. Itâs most enjoyable with headphones, which is why we purchased it. I appreciate that thereâs no display, as it means there’s nothing to break. The operation is very straightforwardâjust press and scroll to select the desired option. It came with a Euro plug and a USB-C cable.

However, I also use the Donner $200 DDA-35 Drum Amp, and I can say that Donner is a significant player in the electronic drum scene. Electronic drums are definitely the future, and we need to embrace that. Unless there’s a major apocalypse, we’re not going back to traditional wooden and animal skin drums.
