    The quality of the holes is poor, with some even slightly torn. The sound is decent, but the wood feels cheap. There are no available descriptions. Not recommended.

    The lyre itself is stunning and feels great in my hands; however, the tuning tool didn’t fit the metal pegs, making it impossible to tune the instrument. Additionally, the tuner appeared to be damaged or defective from the factory. There was no company information included in the package, so if you’re not familiar with playing a lyre, you won’t know how to tune the strings. I reached out to the company, as they should be aware of how their product is being sold through Amazon sellers. I’m currently waiting for a response and will update soon.

    UPDATE: 3/1/21: I contacted Aklot’s customer service about the tuner, attaching photos of the issue. They responded quickly and kindly, working to resolve the problem. The new tuner fits perfectly with the lyre, and now everything is functioning wonderfully! Once tuned, it produces a beautiful sound—perfect for beginners. Aklot’s customer service was excellent, and I’m thrilled with my lyre, so I’m giving it 5 stars. Thank you! 🙂

    I absolutely love it! The sound is beautiful, and it looks fantastic. However, a few of the keyholes were slightly oversized for the tuning pins, which made tuning some of the strings a bit challenging. It may take some time to adjust and get it tuned properly. On a positive note, the customer service is responsive and provided a solution as soon as they were informed of the issue. I would definitely recommend purchasing from them. Overall, a great experience!

    I absolutely love this instrument! Due to some issues with my hands, I haven’t been able to play my guitars, but this lyre sounds fantastic. Here are some tuning tips that might help newcomers:

    1. When you receive it, don’t rush to tune it right away. Let it sit out for a day to acclimate to your home’s temperature. I bought a wooden stand that’s easy to assemble and works perfectly on my counter.
    2. Expect to spend about an hour on the first tuning. Tune slowly, making tiny adjustments of less than 1/32 of an inch.
    3. The largest string on the left is tuned to a “G.” The sequence is: G, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A.
    4. Place your electric tuner at the thinnest part of the lyre, right behind the strings.
    5. Hold your tuning tool like a coffee mug, with your thumb resting on the peg.
    6. Tune “up” to the note instead of down from it. On the first tuning, the strings will stretch and may quickly go out of tune. Once you hit the note, don’t worry if you overshoot it; they’ll settle after a few days.
    7. Start with the heavy “G” string, making tiny adjustments. Avoid big movements, as they can easily throw you off or even break a string.
    8. Once you sense movement, remove the tool and pluck the string to check the tuner. Repeat until the “G” string is tuned.
    9. For the “A” string, remind yourself what string you’re on as you adjust; it will help prevent confusion.
    10. Continue tuning the “B,” “C,” “D,” “E,” “F,” and “G” strings. If your tuner seems off, pluck the previously tuned strings to gauge their sound.
    11. Next, tune the first thin “A” string carefully, as thinner strings require less pressure to adjust.
    12. After tuning the “A” string, return to the initial “G” string and gently adjust back through the strings.
    13. Proceed to tune the “B,” “C,” and “D” strings.
    14. Return to the first string and fine-tune all the others up to the “D” string.
    15. Tune the “E” and “F” strings.
    16. Go back to the first string again and adjust all the strings once more. By now, you should notice they’re staying in tune more easily.
    17. Tune the “G” and “A” strings.
    18. Make any final adjustments to the “G” string.
    19. Play the instrument for a while, then check the tuning again.
    20. Store it on a stand to prevent anything from touching the strings and allow it to rest at room temperature to continue stretching.

    After a day, you’ll find the strings hold their tune much better. Remember, avoid cranking the strings; gentle pressure is key. I wrote this detailed review because I saw many comments from people who felt discouraged while tuning their instruments. I hope this helps anyone considering trying out a lyre!

    I’m grateful to the previous reviewer for sharing their insights on tuning this instrument; otherwise, I might have returned it—tuning is definitely a challenge! Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, it doesn’t hold its tune well. I can physically feel the legs twisting as I release them. I’ve pushed them in as far as possible, even to the point where the textured grip is coming through the other side.

    I started tuning it about three clicks sharp, and it did stay in tune a bit longer, but it’s still not stable, which is quite frustrating. I especially want it to be easy to pick up and play for my daughter, who is only 10 and struggles to tune it on her own.

    That said, considering the price and sound quality, I would likely buy it again. It serves its purpose as a budget-friendly harp for learning the basics.

    As an adult beginner, I found this harp to be a great value, especially since I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it. I downloaded a tuning app and noticed that the strings weren’t holding well and were slipping on the pegs. A gentle tap with a small hammer to push the pegs deeper fixed the issue!

    There’s a beginner course on Udemy specifically for this type of harp, which is a perfect starting point if you’re new to music like I am. The instructor mentioned that her harp cost $400, but this one is much more affordable.

    It has a lovely sound and comes with a decent-quality case and tuning tool. My string colors are accurate, and I ordered it in September 2021.

The sound, the weight, the ample strings (16), and its ease of use are all fantastic. You just need to tune it at the beginning, but that’s part of the process. I absolutely love this new lyre!
